Move deliverables between stages; Issues selecting 3rd workstream; helpful links to provisioning other tools; Story Points; generally slow

Trying to actually use Concourse outside of the trainings we've had for an internal development project. In the 6 hours I've used it, I've got plenty of feedback but will focus on a few actionable roadblocks I've run into so far:

  • Moving deliverables between stages: I'm working on an internal development project where we'd like to use the agile methodology to manage our project. I want to have one stage acting as a task backlog and other stages acting as the individual sprints our team works through. The only issue is that if I create a deliverable in one stage I'm unable to move it to a different stage thereafter so a backlog is infeasible. In my experience, plans change quick. You should be able to move tasks to different stages as timelines / priorities change

  • Minor workstream selection issue: I've created 3 workstreams, the first two I am able to select for tasks/deliverables, the third I cannot select and the dropdown doesn't allow me to see it. Additionally, I think tasks/sub-tasks should inherit traits like this from their parent (at least as an option so I don't have to manually categorize everything).

  • Links: Our team wanted to provision a Github repo & GCP project, I would think that in tools Concourse would at least guide me to the ServiceHub request but instead we had to rely on tribal knowledge. This is an easy value add.

  • Story Points: it'd be nice to weight tasks associated with a project differently as not all are created the same from a scope/effort perspective. This should guide visualizations and accurately reflect work performed/resource capacity

  • Slow: this thing is really slow, in office, on planes, whatever, idk if you need to hydrate your UI components or what but something needs to be done about the speed of this site for it to actually be useable. I've spent 5 min at a time on new reloads trying to work through the site while the font hasn't loaded still and everything is in times new roman or arial or whatever.

Also, the pre-built delivery maps are nice, but that's almost never how projects are actually built out. it'd be more helpful to have something more robust, easily customizable, and fast.

This is direct, but hopefully helpful. Thanks Concourse team.

Hi Mike! Thank you for the feedback! Wanted to give you a quick update on your bullets:

    • You should be able to move deliverables between stages! We recently realized a bulk drag and drop feature where you can move multiple items at a time. It's important to note though that they must be at the same level (i.e. all deliverables or all tasks). Here's an article on the Concourse Guide to learn more!

    • It sounds like you might be experiencing a bug with your workstreams. I would suggest reaching out to our tech support team (see guidance here) if you're still having that issue. And feel free to vote for idea #831 - it's similar to your point on child items inheriting parent attributes.

    • Links: I'll be sending this over to one of our team members for review.

    • Story pointing is something we would like to research in the future!

    • Improving performance is something we're currently working on!

Thank you again for all of your feedback! We appreciate the time you spent gathering this so we can improve Concourse!
