Technology-First Scoping in the Scoping Wizard

Put Simply:
For many engagements—especially in enterprise tech enablement projects—users start by identifying the technology (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday), not the business offering. This feature would allow users to kick off the scoping process by selecting a technology first, which then drives offering, template, and delivery tool relevance throughout the rest of the flow.

Why It Matters:

  • Matches how some users think: Large programs often begin with tech selection. Leading with technology aligns with the mental model of practices like CR&R and Tech Transformation.

  • Improves accuracy: Tech-first flows filter out irrelevant content early, reducing confusion between similar-looking offerings or templates.

  • Saves time: Avoids extra steps by driving the user directly into the most relevant scoping path.

  • Supports practice-specific workflows: Practices that are technology-first in delivery benefit from a smoother, more intuitive experience.

  • Enables dynamic template & tool surfacing: Paves the way for context-aware delivery tool recommendations and estimation alignment.

What’s Needed:

  • New first step in the scoping wizard: “Select a Technology”

  • Clean, intuitive UI that leads to filtered offerings/sub-offerings view

  • Display selected tech contextually in later steps for clarity
