Advanced Scoping

Put Simply:
Not all users need a step-by-step guided scoping flow. Experienced users who are already familiar with the offering and PDM structures may find that flow slow and rigid. This feature would introduce an advanced scoping mode, allowing users to view all offerings and PDM content in a structured table—with advanced filtering, sorting, and pivot capabilities to build their scope quickly and precisely.

Why It Matters:

  • Supports power users: Experienced engagement leads, solution architects, and repeat users can move faster when given more control.

  • Improves efficiency: Cuts down time spent clicking through guided steps for users who already know what they want.

  • Enhances flexibility: Table views with pivot/filter tools enable more complex decision-making and scenario planning.

  • Complements existing flow: Offers an alternative to the guided path without disrupting the experience for newer users.

What’s Needed:

  • New scoping entry point: Option to toggle between “Guided” and “Advanced” scoping during setup.

  • Table-based UI: View that presents offerings, building blocks, and PDM levels in a matrix or table format.

  • Advanced filters: Allow filtering by metadata such as practice, domain, offering group, building block, or tech enabler.

  • Pivot tools: Enable grouping/sorting by user-defined parameters to support scoping logic (e.g., show all tasks for a specific tech or region).

  • Scope selection actions: Users can select/deselect items in bulk and tag them for inclusion/exclusion directly in the table.

  • Integration with scope service: Selections must still integrate with downstream flows (e.g., delivery tools, Save It, ePro).

Not in Scope:

  • Replacing the guided flow—this is an opt-in experience for advanced users
